FileMaker Database Project Case Study
Bar Coding for Better Inventory Tracking and Faster Orders
Managing and distributing inventory for a new enterprise was a top priority, and bar coding was a key component of the process from the start. Inventory was produced in batches, required quality control and each batch produced multiple units of product that needed distribution. At any given time, the warehouse manager needed to know whether a particular unit was available for distribution or not.
Bar coding each individual unit in a FileMaker Pro database allows the warehouse staff to quickly and easily check product into inventory, and the sales department to process product out of inventory via sales orders. With each product bar coded, all departments involved – warehousing, sales and management, know in real-time what products are available, where they are located , which products are selling and which ones need to be sold.
